Questions
Everything people ask before they start.
Deposits, cancellation windows, refunds, Stripe payments and what it costs. If something here is not answered, the contact form reaches a person.
Deposits
Asking for money up front.
Stated up front, almost nobody objects. The bookings you lose tend to be the ones that were never going to arrive — which is the point. Salons that introduce deposits generally report the same number of kept appointments from fewer bookings.
Start at 20–30% of the service price, or a flat £10–£20. Raise it for long appointments and high-demand slots, where a no-show costs you the most. You can set a different rule per service.
Yes. It is part payment, not a surcharge. The client pays the balance in the chair as normal, so the total they pay is unchanged.
Deposits apply to appointments booked through your link. Walk-in trade is unaffected, so you can run both without changing how the shop works.
Cancellations
When someone does not turn up.
Your rule runs on its own. Past the cutoff you set, the deposit is retained on exactly the terms the client agreed to at booking. You are not left deciding case by case or chasing anyone.
Any time. The policy is the default, not a cage — you can refund a deposit from the dashboard whenever you judge it right. The difference is that the awkward conversation starts from your terms rather than from nothing.
Most UK salons use 24 or 48 hours. Long enough to refill the slot, short enough that clients find it reasonable. Decide the window before you decide the amount.
Payments
Where the money actually goes.
No. Stripe handles cards and PCI compliance. Salonier stores bookings and policies only, never full card numbers.
You do. Deposits settle into your own Stripe account, not ours. We never sit between you and your takings.
Yes, and they are charged by Stripe rather than by us — 1.5% + 20p for UK cards on Stripe's standard pricing. Check stripe.com/gb/pricing for the current rate, since it is theirs to change, not ours.
Plans
What it costs to run.
A monthly plan from £24, plus a platform fee on each deposit: 2% on Starter, 1% on Growth, 0% on Pro. Stripe's processing fee is separate and charged by Stripe. Nothing is taken from the service price your client pays you in the chair. Prices exclude VAT where it applies.
Seven days, with no card up front. If you do nothing at the end, the account simply stops — you are not charged and nothing is taken automatically.
Starter, unless you already know you need service-level deposit rules. If you take a lot of deposits, the higher plans usually work out cheaper overall, because the platform fee falls to 0% on Pro. Moving up takes a click and the diary is unaffected.
Any time, from the dashboard. No contract, no notice period. Deposits you have already collected are unaffected.
Getting started
Going live this week.
Under ten minutes: add your services, set a policy, connect Stripe, then share your link or QR code. There is no migration project and no onboarding call to sit through.
No. You get a branded booking page and a QR code, which is enough on its own. If you do have a site or an Instagram bio, the same link drops straight in.
Yes. Put one service behind a deposit and leave the rest as they are. A week of that tells you more than any comparison page, including ours.
Still not answered?
Ask the question directly. If you would rather work it out with numbers, the calculator shows what no-shows cost you and what a deposit would hold back.
Protect the diary before Saturday.
Add your services, set one policy, connect Stripe. Ten minutes, and every booking after that holds its own seat.
